
Erkan Baş

Erkan Baş is a Turkish socialist politician and academic who currently serves as a Member of the Grand National Assembly representing Istanbul and as the leader of the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP). Born in West Berlin to a Bosniak immigrant family, he graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in the History of Science and previously worked as a guest lecturer at Istanbul Technical University. A long-time activist in the Turkish left, he was a co-founder of the Communist Party of Turkey and later helped establish the Workers' Party of Turkey. Under his leadership, the party has become a prominent opposition force against the AKP government, advocating for labor rights and social justice within the Labour and Freedom Alliance.
