Floella Benjamin

Floella Benjamin is a British actress, presenter, author, and politician who has served as a life peer in the House of Lords since 2010. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, she moved to Britain in 1960 and became a prominent television presenter, notably for the BBC's Play School. Throughout her career, she has been a dedicated advocate for children's welfare, diversity, and education, serving as a patron for various charities and receiving numerous honours, including being appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and a member of the Order of Merit. As a Liberal Democrat peer, she continues to champion issues related to childhood wellbeing and social equality.
