Francis C. Thompson is an American politician serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 19. Having assumed office in 2020, he previously held the same seat from 1975 to 2008 and served in the Louisiana State Senate from 2008 to 2020. In January 2023, he became the longest-serving state legislator in Louisiana history. Originally a longtime member of the Democratic Party, Thompson switched to the Republican Party in March 2023, citing a desire to align with his Christian values and principles.
