Gaetano Manfredi

Gaetano Manfredi is an Italian politician, engineer, and academic serving as the Mayor of Naples since 2021. Before entering politics, he was a distinguished professor of structural engineering and served as the rector of the University of Naples Federico II. He previously held national office as the Minister of University and Research in the second Conte government from 2020 to 2021, where he managed the academic response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As mayor, he has focused on addressing the city's significant financial debt through a state-backed recovery pact and overseeing urban redevelopment projects.
