Gema Igual Ortiz is a Spanish politician serving as the Mayor of Santander since 2016. A member of the People's Party, she was first elected to the Santander city council in 2003, where she initially managed tourism and festivities. In 2023, she was elected to the Parliament of Cantabria and became vice president of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces. Before her political career, she worked in the travel industry and led the Association of Young Businesspeople in Cantabria.
