Georg Maier

Georg Maier is a German politician currently serving as the Minister of the Interior, Municipalities and Regional Development of Thuringia and as the second Deputy Minister-President of Thuringia. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), he has led the Thuringian SPD as state chairman since 2020. Before entering politics, Maier worked as a business economist for the KfW banking group. Throughout his political career, he has held various roles including State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs and has been a prominent figure in state-level governance since 2017.
