Gerald Handig

Gerald Handig is an Austrian politician and former professional football player who has served as a member of the Burgenland Landtag since 2020. In addition to his legislative duties, he has been the mayor of the municipality of Edelstal since 2007. Before entering politics, Handig pursued a military career, serving as an officer in the Austrian Armed Forces, and played professional football in the Austrian top division. He is also active in local party leadership within the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP).
