Gerry Brownlee

Gerry Brownlee is a New Zealand politician who has served as the 32nd Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives since 2023. A long-serving member of the National Party, he was first elected to Parliament in 1996 and has held numerous senior cabinet positions, including Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery, Minister of Defence, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Known for his confrontational political style, he became the Father of the House in 2022, recognizing his status as the longest-serving continuous member of the legislature.
