Gert-Jan Kats

Gert-Jan Kats is a Dutch politician currently serving as the Mayor of Veenendaal, a position he has held since January 2019. Previously, he served as the mayor of Liesveld and Zuidplas, and briefly acted as the interim mayor of Renswoude in 2026. Before entering politics, he worked in the banking sector, specifically at ING Bank, where he specialized in financial planning and private banking. Originally a member of the Reformed Political Party (SGP), Kats became an independent politician in 2021 after distancing himself from the party's conservative stances, including his public opposition to the Nashville Declaration.
