Gert-Jan Oplaat is a Dutch politician currently serving as a member of the Senate of the Netherlands. Born in 1964, he began his political career with the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), serving as a municipal councillor in Markelo and later as a member of the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. After leaving the VVD in 2022 due to disagreements over nitrogen policies, he joined the Farmer–Citizen Movement (BBB). Beyond his political career, Oplaat has worked in the agricultural sector and is known for his involvement in cabaret and music.
