Gillian Mackay is a Scottish politician who has served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Central Scotland region since 2021 and as co-leader of the Scottish Greens since August 2025. A graduate of Heriot-Watt University with a background in marine biodiversity and biotechnology, she previously worked as a Regional Campaign Support Officer. Mackay is noted for her legislative work on the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) (Scotland) Act, which established buffer zones around abortion clinics. She is the first Green MSP to be elected in the Central Scotland region and serves as the party's spokesperson for health and social care.
