Giovanni Legnini

Giovanni Legnini is an Italian politician and lawyer currently serving as the Mayor of Chieti, having assumed office in 2026. Throughout his extensive career, he has held significant national roles, including Senator of the Republic, Deputy in the Chamber of Deputies, and Undersecretary of State in the Letta and Renzi governments. He also served as Vice President of the High Council of the Judiciary and as the Extraordinary Commissioner for the reconstruction of areas affected by the 2016 and 2017 Central Italy earthquakes. A member of the Democratic Party, Legnini has a long history of political involvement, beginning with the Italian Communist Party, and is recognized for his expertise in administrative and business law.
