Golriz Ghahraman

Golriz Ghahraman is a former New Zealand politician and human rights lawyer who served as a Member of the New Zealand House of Representatives for the Green Party from 2017 to 2024. Born in Iran, she arrived in New Zealand as a child refugee and later became the first refugee elected to the New Zealand Parliament. Her career focused on human rights, criminal defense, and electoral reform. She resigned from Parliament in January 2024 following multiple shoplifting allegations, for which she was later convicted.
