Greg Fergus

Greg Fergus is a Canadian politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Hull—Aylmer. A member of the Liberal Party, he was first elected in 2015 and previously served as the 39th Speaker of the House of Commons from 2023 to 2025, becoming the first Black person to hold the position. Before his parliamentary career, Fergus worked as a political staffer and served as the national director of the Liberal Party. His tenure as Speaker was marked by significant parliamentary debates and procedural challenges, including a notable incident involving the removal of the Leader of the Official Opposition from the House.
