A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan, he previously served as the Governor of Assam from 2023 to 2024. Throughout his extensive political career, Kataria held multiple ministerial positions in the Government of Rajasthan, including Home Minister and Education Minister, and served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
