Gustavo Gatica

Gustavo Gatica Villarroel is a Chilean politician, psychologist, and human rights activist currently serving as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile for the 8th District. He gained national and international prominence as a symbol of the 2019 Chilean social uprising after suffering severe eye injuries from police shotgun pellets. A graduate in psychology, Gatica has dedicated his career to advocating for victims of state violence, disability rights, and institutional reform. Elected in 2025 as part of the progressive bloc, his legislative agenda focuses on human rights, public health, and social inclusion.
