Macarena Santelices is a Chilean journalist, television presenter, and politician who served as the Minister of Women and Gender Equality in 2020 during the second government of Sebastián Piñera. Previously, she served as the mayor of Olmué from 2012 to 2019 and as a municipal councillor for the same commune from 2008 to 2012. She studied communication sciences at the University of Viña del Mar and later obtained a master's degree in communication from the University of Alcalá in Spain, before transitioning into a prominent political career associated with the Independent Democratic Union and later the Republican Party.
