Gwen Moore is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin's 4th congressional district since 2005. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first African American elected to Congress from Wisconsin and a prominent advocate for women's rights, reproductive health, and progressive economic policies. Before her federal service, Moore served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate, where she was the first African-American woman elected to the state senate. Throughout her career, she has focused on poverty alleviation, community development, and social justice, drawing on her background as a former welfare recipient and community organizer.
