H. D. Kumaraswamy is an Indian politician and film producer currently serving as the Minister of Heavy Industries and Minister of Steel of India since 2024. A prominent leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) party, he previously served two terms as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2018 to 2019. The son of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy has had a long career in state politics, including roles as the leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Beyond his political career, he is known for his involvement in the Kannada film industry as a producer and distributor.
