Hanno Benz is a German politician who has served as the Lord Mayor of Darmstadt since June 2023. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), he previously served as a member of the Darmstadt City Council from 2001 to 2016, where he also acted as the SPD parliamentary group leader. Born in Darmstadt in 1972, Benz is the son of former Lord Mayor Peter Benz. He studied literature and linguistics in Frankfurt am Main before dedicating his career to local politics and public service.
