Haruhiko Takahashi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kasai in Hyogo Prefecture. Born in 1958 in Kasai, he graduated from Osaka University and began his career as a civil servant in the Kasai City Office in 1981. He later served as the city's Superintendent of Education for three years. Elected as mayor in May 2023 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party, he campaigned on a platform of reforming municipal hospital reconstruction plans and reviewing school consolidation policies to ensure more transparent and effective city governance.
