Haruichi Ogasawara is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Noboribetsu in Hokkaido. Born in Noboribetsu in 1967, he graduated from Tokyo University of Agriculture with a degree in landscape architecture. Before entering politics, he worked as an executive at Maruyu Ogasawara Greening. He was first elected mayor in 2008 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party, running as an independent. Since then, he has secured five consecutive terms, with his most recent re-elections occurring unopposed. He is a former president of the National Association of Young Mayors and has been active in regional civic organizations.
