Hideharu Hasegawa is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Liberal Democratic Party. Born in Chiba Prefecture, he graduated from Tohoku University in 1984. Before entering national politics, he worked for the Dai-Tokyo Fire and Marine Insurance Company and later served in the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, eventually holding leadership roles within the National Association of Postmasters. He was elected to the House of Councillors in 2022 and served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications in the second Ishiba Cabinet starting in 2024.
