Hideo Tsunoda is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Minami Kanto proportional representation block. Born in Katsushika, Tokyo, he graduated from Soka University and worked for the Suido Sangyo Shimbun newspaper before entering politics. He served four terms as a member of the Funabashi City Council starting in 1999. Since his first election to the national Diet in 2014, he has served multiple terms and held the position of Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Politically, he has expressed opposition to constitutional revision and the exercise of the right to collective self-defense, while supporting the introduction of reduced tax rates and opposing the necessity of nuclear power in Japan.
