Hideyuki Yokoyama is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Osaka. Born in Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture, he graduated from Kwansei Gakuin University before beginning his career as a civil servant in the Osaka Prefectural Government in 2004. He was first elected to the Osaka Prefectural Assembly in 2011, where he served three consecutive terms. Yokoyama has held significant leadership roles within the Osaka Restoration Association, including Secretary-General. He was elected Mayor of Osaka in 2023 and has been a prominent advocate for the 'Osaka Metropolis Plan,' a policy initiative aimed at restructuring the city's administrative framework. In early 2026, he resigned his position to seek a fresh mandate through a mayoral election, continuing his political career within the Osaka Restoration Association and the national Japan Innovation Party.
