Hironori Takagaki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Higashihiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture. Born in Onomichi, he graduated from Osaka University with a degree in civil engineering and spent much of his early career as a technical official within the Hiroshima Prefectural Government, eventually serving as Vice Governor. He was first elected mayor in 2018 and has since secured re-election, focusing on urban development initiatives. His administration has recently faced scrutiny regarding his stance on local environmental health concerns, specifically his decision not to conduct blood testing for residents following the detection of high levels of PFAS near a local U.S. military facility.
