Hiroto Fujii is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Minokamo in Gifu Prefecture. First elected in 2013 at the age of 28, he became the youngest mayor in Japan at the time. His career has been marked by a high-profile bribery scandal, for which he was initially acquitted in 2015 before being convicted by the Nagoya High Court in 2016, leading to his resignation in 2017. Following the completion of his suspended sentence, he successfully returned to office in 2022 and was re-elected for a fifth term in 2026. Fujii, who previously worked as a cram school director, advocates for educational enrichment and international exchange programs.
