Hugo Soares

Hugo Alexandre Lopes Soares is a Portuguese lawyer and politician currently serving as a member of the Assembly of the Republic and as the leader of the Social Democratic Party's parliamentary group. Born in Braga in 1983, he previously served as the president of the Social Democratic Youth from 2012 to 2014. He first entered the Assembly of the Republic in 2011, serving until 2019, and returned to the legislature in 2024. In 2022, he was appointed Secretary-General of the Social Democratic Party by party leader Luís Montenegro.
