Min Hyung-bae is a South Korean politician currently serving as a member of the 22nd National Assembly, representing the Gwangsan-gu Eul constituency in Gwangju. A former journalist for the Jeonnam Ilbo and a sociology scholar, he previously served as the Mayor of Gwangsan-gu for two terms and worked as a secretary in the Blue House under the Roh Moo-hyun and Moon Jae-in administrations. Throughout his career, he has focused on local autonomy, labor rights, and social welfare, notably implementing pioneering policies for the conversion of public-sector temporary workers to permanent status during his tenure as mayor. He is a member of the Democratic Party of Korea and has been active in various legislative committees, including the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee.
