Ignas Vėgėlė

Ignas Vėgėlė is a Lithuanian lawyer and politician who currently serves as a Member of the Seimas. A former president of the Lithuanian Bar Association from 2014 to 2022, he gained prominence for his vocal criticism of government-imposed COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Vėgėlė, who identifies as a Christian Democrat, has maintained an independent political stance since the merger of the Lithuanian Christian Democrats into the Homeland Union. In 2024, he ran as a candidate in the Lithuanian presidential election, finishing in third place. His political platform emphasizes the defense of traditional Christian values, skepticism toward current European Union integration policies, and a cautious approach to the Russo-Ukrainian War, advocating for negotiated peace efforts.
