Ihor Chayka

Ihor Chayka is a Ukrainian politician who has served as the Mayor of Kovel since November 2020. Born in Kovel in 1964, he pursued a career in journalism after graduating from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Before entering politics, he worked for many years as a journalist, editor, and correspondent for various media outlets, including the regional branch of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine. As mayor, he has focused on local governance and international cooperation, including the establishment of sister-city partnerships.
