Serhiy Taruta is a Ukrainian politician and businessman who currently serves as a People's Deputy of Ukraine in the IX convocation. He previously held the position of Governor of Donetsk Oblast in 2014, where he oversaw the temporary relocation of the regional administration to Mariupol during the early stages of the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Before entering politics, Taruta was a prominent industrialist, serving as the chairman of the board of directors for the Industrial Union of Donbas and as the president of the FC Metalurh Donetsk football club. He is also known for his extensive collection of historical artifacts, including Scythian and Trypillian cultural items. Throughout his career, he has been involved in various economic and cultural initiatives, including the promotion of Ukrainian historical heritage.
