He served as a deputy mayor and first deputy mayor of Kharkiv for over a decade, becoming acting mayor following the death of Hennadiy Kernes in 2020. Since the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, he has focused on humanitarian aid, public infrastructure, and the management of frontline city services under martial law.
