A member of the Labor Left faction of the Labor Party, she previously worked as a union leader before entering parliament. In September 2020, she was appointed to the Second Andrews Ministry, where she held the portfolios of Minister for Workplace Safety and Minister for Early Childhood. Born in the United Kingdom, she moved to Australia with her family in 1974.
