Irene Adams, Baroness Adams of Craigielea, is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since 2005. Previously, she represented the constituency of Paisley North as a Labour Member of Parliament from 1990 to 2005, succeeding her late husband, Allen Adams. During her time in the House of Commons, she was known for her advocacy against drug abuse and gang violence, and she maintained a left-wing stance within the Labour Party, including opposition to the Iraq War. She has also served as a local councillor on the Renfrew District Council and the Strathclyde Regional Council.
