Islam Alijaj

Islam Alijaj is a Swiss politician and disability activist serving as a member of the National Council since December 2023. Born in 1986 in present-day Kosovo, he immigrated to Switzerland as a child. Alijaj, who has cerebral palsy, has been a prominent advocate for disability rights. Before his election to the federal parliament, he served on the city parliament of Zurich starting in 2022. He is also a trained web3 developer and has worked to challenge societal perceptions regarding disability and employment.
