Ismail Smith-Wade-El is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 49th district, having assumed office in December 2022. Born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he previously served on the Lancaster City Council from 2017 to 2022 and worked as a program specialist for the Lancaster County Homeless Coalition. Smith-Wade-El holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre and anthropology from Carnegie Mellon University. He is notable for being the first Black and first LGBTQ representative to serve his district.
