Iván Cepeda

Iván Cepeda Castro is a Colombian politician and a prominent leader of the left-wing Historic Pact movement. Born in Bogotá in 1962, he spent his early years in exile in Prague and Havana before returning to Colombia. A dedicated human rights activist, he founded the Manuel Cepeda Vargas Foundation and the National Movement for Victims of State Crimes following the assassination of his father, Senator Manuel Cepeda Vargas, in 1994. Cepeda served in the Chamber of Representatives from 2010 to 2014 and has been a Senator since 2014, where he has focused on peace processes, agrarian reform, and the defense of human rights. He is the Historic Pact's nominee for the 2026 presidential election, campaigning on a platform of 'Total Peace' and environmental sustainability.
