Ivica Puljak

Ivica Puljak is a Croatian politician, particle physicist, and professor. Born in 1969 in Split, he earned his PhD in physics from University Paris VI in 2000 and has been a prominent researcher in the CMS collaboration at CERN, contributing significantly to the discovery of the Higgs boson. He entered politics as the president of the Centre party and served as the mayor of Split from 2021 to 2025. Following his defeat in the 2025 mayoral re-election, he announced his retirement from politics to return to his scientific career.
