Jón Pétur Zimsen is an Icelandic politician and member of the Althing, representing the Independence Party. He was elected to the Icelandic parliament in the 2024 parliamentary election. A graduate of the University of Iceland, Zimsen has a background in education, having served as an assistant principal at Réttarholt School and later as a school principal at Melaskóla. In 2018, he served as an assistant to the Minister of Education and Culture, Lilja Alfreðsdóttir, gaining experience in national policy development before his election to the legislature.
