Ján Podmanický is a Slovak politician who has served as a member of the National Council of Slovakia since 2006 and as the mayor of Stará Bystrica since 2006. Educated in theology and law at Comenius University, he began his political career in 2002. Originally a member of the Smer-SD party, he became an independent politician in 2020 after leaving the party due to disagreements over its ideological shift toward the left. He is known for establishing a Conservative Platform with fellow parliamentarians.
