James Thomas Waggoner Jr., commonly known as Jabo Waggoner, is an American politician serving as a member of the Alabama Senate, representing the 16th District since 1990. A long-serving legislator, he previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives from 1966 to 1983 as a Democrat before switching to the Republican Party. During his tenure in the Senate, he served as Minority Leader and later as Majority Leader following the Republican legislative takeover in 2010. Waggoner is known for his conservative policy positions, including his support for strict anti-abortion legislation.
