Jagrup Brar

Jagrup Brar is a Canadian politician serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for the riding of Surrey-Fleetwood. A member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party, he currently serves as the Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals. Born in Bathinda District, Punjab, India, Brar was a member of the India men's national basketball team before moving to Canada to earn a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Manitoba. Prior to his political career, he worked in career and entrepreneurship development for non-profit organizations. Throughout his tenure, he has held various roles, including Minister of State for Trade and caucus chair, and is noted for his 2012 participation in a welfare challenge to raise public awareness of poverty issues in British Columbia.
