James Browne

James Browne is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has served as the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage since January 2025. A qualified barrister, he has represented the Wexford constituency as a Teachta Dála (TD) since 2016. Before his current ministerial appointment, he served as a Minister of State at the Department of Justice from 2020 to 2025. His political career began at the local level, serving on the Enniscorthy Town Council and the Wexford County Council. Browne is known for his background in a political family and has previously expressed opposition to the repeal of the 8th amendment in Ireland.
