Before his election to Congress in 2026, he served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2026, where he held the position of Minority Leader from 2022 to 2025. A lawyer by profession and a partner in his family's farming operation, Gallagher previously served on the Sutter County Board of Supervisors. He is a member of the Republican Party.
