Born in Pennsylvania and raised in Lycoming County, he previously owned and managed Susquehanna Software and served as a co-owner of the Australian baseball team, the Sydney Blue Sox. In the state legislature, he has been noted for his bipartisan approach, including serving as the lone Republican co-sponsor on a bill to recognize same-sex marriage at the state level. He currently serves on the Children & Youth, Government Oversight, and Human Services Committees.
