Jan Konvalinka

Jan Konvalinka is a prominent Czech biochemist and academic who served as the Vice-Rector for Science and Research at Charles University from 2014 to 2022. He currently leads a research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where he has served as director since 2022. His research focuses on retroviral proteases and HIV, and he gained significant public recognition for his expert commentary during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is a member of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic and was appointed professor of biochemistry in 2020.
