Janis Irwin is a Canadian politician serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the electoral district of Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood. First elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, she represents the Alberta New Democratic Party and currently serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Housing and chair of the Public Accounts Committee. A former high school teacher and vice-principal, Irwin is a vocal advocate for housing affordability, 2SLGBTQ+ rights, and the protection of gay-straight alliances in schools.
