Jannewietske de Vries

Jannewietske de Vries is a Dutch politician and administrator currently serving as the Mayor of Súdwest-Fryslân, a position she has held since 2018. A member of the Labour Party (PvdA), she previously served as a member of the provincial executive of Friesland from 2007 to 2015, where she focused on education, language, media, and culture. Her career also includes roles as a municipal councilor in Boornsterhem and as the general director of Floriade B.V. De Vries is known for her advocacy for the preservation of minority languages, particularly Frisian, and has held various supervisory roles in cultural and educational institutions.
