Javier Martínez is an American attorney, activist, and politician serving as the Speaker of the New Mexico House of Representatives since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he has represented the 11th district, encompassing parts of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, since 2015. Before his election to the legislature, he worked as a community organizer and policy director. Martínez is the son of Mexican immigrants and was the first in his family to attend college, earning his degrees from the University of New Mexico.
